Men of Fairmount Temple (MFT)

Our Mission

The Men of Fairmount Temple (MFT) engage in a variety of social, religious, cultural, and educational activities, to enhance our congregation and the greater Cleveland community.

Who We Are and What We Do

Ushering at Services: Our MFT member ushers welcome those attending religious services, while distributing prayer books & programs to them.

Ed Broidy Mitzvah Corps: MFT volunteers host musical entertainment and provide refreshments monthly to residents at Montefiore of Menorah Park.  In April 2017, the City of Beachwood issued a Mayoral proclamation recognizing MFT for its 50+ years of dedicated service to Montefiore.

Yom HaShoah Candle Distribution: MFT annually packages/distributes memorial candles in observance of Yom HaShoah which are delivered to every congregant’s home and to students in our religious school.

Clothing Drive: Our annual clothing drive in November collects clothing which is distributed to organizations serving our community’s neediest people.

Red Cross: Semi-annually (late Fall/early Spring), MFT sponsors semi-a blood drive held at the Temple.

Interfaith Seder: MFT is a leading sponsor of our Temple’s annual interfaith event.  Serving as table hosts, our members welcome and help inform our non-Jewish guests about the meaning and rituals of Passover.

Leo Jacobson Scholarship Award: Established by his family to honor a beloved former MFT President and Temple Educator, MFT annually awards a $500 scholarship to a 10th grade student of our religious school.

Hanukkah Menorah Distribution: MFT annually distributes menorahs to our religious school’s 1st grade students.  A rich multi-generational tradition, many Fairmount parents/grandparents fondly have and treasure their own 1st grade menorahs.

Greater Cleveland Food Bank: Our MFT members and families help package food items at the Cleveland Food Bank each December.  These items are delivered in community to help those with food insecurity.

Sunday Morning Forum: MFT regularly hosts prominent local speakers to present a wide range of topics to our audience.  These talks are free and open to the public.  When held at Anshe Chesed, a bagel brunch welcomes guests prior to the program.  As a COVID-safe precaution during the Pandemic, these presentations are conducted online.

Collaboration with other Temple groups: MFT frequently collaborates on other programs/projects with the Women of Fairmount Temple and the Caring Community.

Social Activities: MFT sponsors a variety of social activities during the year such as dinner/theatre at CVLT, summer BBQ, poker night, evening at Blossom, etc.
